Designing this kitchen came with a few challenges that required thoughtful solutions. The primary goal was to create a beautiful and highly functional space for a family with a disabled child.
The client specifically requested a kitchen that would discreetly handle their everyday mess, particularly from their child. They wanted an easy-to-clean, calm appearance without compromising on style.
This meant incorporating design features that were not only durable and easy to maintain but also strategically structured to conceal clutter when needed.
The wood look cabinets help hide messy handprints, and the speckled countertop camouflages dirt. Since the child had difficulty using handles, all cabinets received knobs.
The second challenge was the layout itself. The kitchen is a long and narrow galley space, which presented limitations in terms of movement and storage.
One wall, in particular, was especially tricky, as it was thin, awkward, and previously wasted space. We transformed it into a custom, ultra-functional, yet, narrow pantry. This tall, space-saving unit now holds all the family’s canned goods, bottles, and even their Shabbat platta, turning what was once dead space into one of the most useful features of the kitchen.
I even managed to incorporate a service table for two that has additional storage underneath.
Through smart planning, bright finishes, and practical solutions, we created a kitchen that flows, is organized, and easy to maintain. Most importantly, it’s a space that fully supports the family’s unique needs.
They not only love their new kitchen but also appreciate that their home feels like anyone elses beautiful space, while providing a comfort and functionality for their disabled child.
Client Testimony
"Tsivya Fox-Dobuler is a very creative thinker. She has exquisite taste. Before making aliya, we hired Tsivya to take care of all of our construction work. She made helpful suggestions about adding closet space, designed our kitchen, shopped for furniture, linens, and kitchen appliances, and so much more. Tsivya is responsible, diligent, and scrupulously honest. I would recommend Tsivya without reservation." Chaya Vivienne Frank
